Oregano oil has antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, and antiseptic properties. It has an effect of a strong analgesic and antirheumatic action.

In diluted form (usually 5 drops of oil of oregano to 25 drops of any other oils, such as jojoba oil), it can be used to massage the gums, for example, to ease toothache.

Oil of oregano can also ease the burning and itching from insect bites. Its powerful antifungal properties can be used to treat and prevent infections, for example, to treat fungal infections of the skin, removing the lice and intestinal parasites.

Oregano oil should never be used undiluted.
